However their fans expected easier game. Olympiacos looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Azerbaijani-American guard Jordan Davis (188-1997, college: N.Colorado) produced 17 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. Olympiacos maintains second place with 15-2 record having just two points less than leader Panathinaikos. Promitheas lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth position with nine games lost. They share it with PAOK and Karditsas. Olympiacos are looking forward to face PAOK (#5) in Thessaloniki in the next round. Promitheas will play on the road against AEK Betsson in Athens and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Athens: Panathinaikos (#1) and Peristeri (#8). Peristeri was defeated at home 84-99 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Peristeri. North Macedonian-Turkish forward Cedi Osman (203-1995) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points. Juancho Hernangomez contributed with 13 points and 4 assists for the winners. American forward Jarell Eddie (201-1993, college: Virginia Tech, agency: Octagon Europe) answered with 23 points for Peristeri. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Undefeated Panathinaikos (17-0) have an impressive series of seventeen victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with a perfect record of 17 victories in a row. Peristeri at the other side keeps the eighth position with ten games lost. Panathinaikos will play against bottom-ranked Kolossos HH (#12) in Rodou in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Peristeri will play on the road against Karditsas (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Karditsas will play against Peristeri (#8) and hope to secure a win.

Other games of round 17 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:

Kolossos HH – AEK Betsson 85-86

There was no surprise in Rodou where 12th ranked Kolossos HH (4-13) was edged by third ranked AEK Betsson (9-8) 86-85 on Saturday. AEK Betsson made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. The game was dominated by American players. Forward RaiQuan Gray (203-1999, college: FSU) stepped up and scored 20 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and guard Prentiss Hubb (190-1999, college: Notre Dame) chipped in 17 points. Guard London Perrantes (187-1994, college: Virginia) responded with 20 points and 5 assists and Andrew Goudelock (191-1988, college: Charleston) scored 18 points. Four AEK Betsson and five Kolossos HH players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. AEK Betsson maintains third place with 9-8 record having eight points less than leader Panathinaikos, which they share with Panionios. Loser Kolossos HH stay at the bottom position with 13 games lost. AEK Betsson will meet at home Promitheas (#6) in the next round. Kolossos HH will play against the league’s leader Panathinaikos (#1) in Athens and hope to secure a win.

There was an upset in Thessaloniki where higher ranked PAOK (8-9) was defeated by tenth ranked Lavrio (6-11) 74-69 on Saturday. The game was dominated by American players. Point guard Taz Sherman (184-1999, college: WVU) stepped up and scored 14 points for the winners and guard Sam Griffin (192-2001, college: Wyoming) chipped in 14 points. Lavrio’s coach Konstantinos Mexas allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game.
