Slovenian swingman Matija Samar (194-F/G-2004) was the top scorer of the day in the world yesterday with the 42 points he had in the Spanish Segunda FEB. His excellent performance made his team Ponferrada beat the Huesca 103 to 92. He is the best scorer in the league averaging over 22 points and over 5 rebounds per game. As evident, the league is predominantly led by former college players, with 2 out of the 10 scorers having graduated from US schools. He represented Slovenia at the Fiba Under 20 European Championship in Greece last year. During this event he scored an average of 9.1 points per game and had 2.1 rebounds per game. Samar was awarded Player of the Week in the Spanish Segunda FEB.
