Aliaga Petkim moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Karsiyaka and Bursaspor. Fenerbahce at the other side keeps the second position with one game lost. Aliaga Petkim will play against bottom-ranked Yalova (#20) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Fenerbahce will play against Karsiyaka (#9) and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Loser Tofas dropped to the sixth position with two games lost. Gaziantep will meet MST (#19) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Tofas will play against Manisa (#10) and hope to secure a win.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 8: winless Merkezefendi was smashed by Istanbul on the road 92-50. Besiktas won against Bahcesehir on its own court 75-63. Bursaspor managed to outperform Darussafaka in a road game 84-72. Buyukcekmece managed to beat MST at home 76-72. Turk Telekom defeated Yalova on the opponent’s court 80-74.


Istanbul – Merkezefendi 92-50

No shocking result in a game when fifteenth ranked Istanbul (3-4) crushed at home bottom-ranked Merkezefendi (0-6) 92-50 on Sunday. Istanbul forced 26 Merkezefendi turnovers and outrebounded them 57-33 including a 29-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. Istanbul looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The winners were led by Ege Borcali (-2005) who scored that evening 14 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and point guard Kaan Ates (178-2007) supported him with 23 points and 5 steals. Five Istanbul players scored in double figures. Even 4 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists by Timur Karaagac (-2007) did not help to save the game for Merkezefendi. Teoman Kula (-2007) added 10 points for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
