The most exciting game of round 7 in the BBL took place in Ludwigsburg. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of much higher ranked EnBW Ludwigsburg (4-3) to sixteenth ranked Rasta Vechta (2-4) 79-77 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of EnBW Ludwigsburg. Vechta made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. 25 personal fouls committed by Ludwigsburg helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Brandon Randolph (198-1998, college: Arizona) who helped to win the game recording 28 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). His fellow American import forward Jayden Gardner (201-2000, college: Virginia, agency: MSG) contributed with 14 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. American forward Joel Scott (201-2001, college: Colorado St., agency: Pensack Sports) answered with 23 points and 6 rebounds for Ludwigsburg. EnBW Ludwigsburg’s coach tried various players’ combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn’t help. Vechta moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Ludwigsburg at the other side dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Vechta is looking forward to face higher ranked Bamberg (#12) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ludwigsburg will play against Weissenfels (#7) and is hoping to win this game.
Very important is a home loss of third ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (4-3) against eleventh ranked s Oliver Baskets (3-2) on Saturday night. Host MLP Academics Heidelberg was defeated by s Oliver Baskets in a tough game in Heidelberg 67-72. It was a great evening for American guard Mike Davis Jr (193-1996, college: Queens, NC) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points and 5 rebounds. Jhivvan Jackson helped adding 19 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side American forward Ryan Mikesell (201-1996, college: Dayton) responded with 9 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Wuerzburg moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Bonn. Heidelberg at the other side dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Wuerzburg will play against Braunschweig (#11) at home in the next round. Heidelberg will play against Goettingen (#17) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
BBL top team – ratiopharm Ulm (5-1) managed to deliver another win on Saturday. This time they beat twelfth ranked Hamburg Towers (2-4) 82-72. It was a quality performance for Justinian Jessup who led the winners and scored 22 points. Kur Kuath came up with 16 points and 6 rebounds for Hamburg in the defeat. Ulm maintains first place with 5-1 record. Hamburg lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the thirteenth position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Ulm will meet ALBA (#16) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Hamburg will have a break next round.
Other games in round 7 were not that significant. Frankfurt was beaten by Rostock on the road 83-66. Bamberg won against ALBA on its own court 87-82. Winless Goettingen unfortunately lost to Chemnitz in a road game 88-96. Weissenfels managed to beat Oldenburg at home 92-77. Bayern defeated Braunschweig on the opponent’s court 90-72.
The most impressive performance of 7th round was 18 points and 7 rebounds by Devin Booker of Bayern.
Rostock – Frankfurt 83-66
No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Seawolves (4-3) beat 13th ranked Skyliners (2-4) in Rostock 83-66 on Friday. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Bryce Hamilton (193-2000, college: UNLV) who led the winners and scored 27 points and 5 rebounds. The former international Robin Amaize (196-1994) accounted for 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. American guard Malik Parsons (190-1999, college: NWOSU) came up with 25 points and Lithuanian Einaras Tubutis (208-1998) added 4 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Frankfurt in the defeat. Skyliners’ coach let to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Rostock moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Frankfurt keeps the thirteenth position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Rostock will meet Bonn (#8) on the road in the next round. Frankfurt will play against the league’s second-placed Bayern (#2) and hope to secure a win.

Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Ulm made 7 blocks.
