However their fans expected much easier game. Erokspor looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American center Jeremy Simmons (204-1989, college: Charleston) saved the victory by scoring 12 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Berkay Bayar (196-1999) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Erokspor’s coach Ilker Salman used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. French center Murat Kozan (206-1993) replied with 23 points and 8 rebounds for Cagdas BS. Erokspor have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 7-1 record, which they share with Cayirova. Cagdas BS at the other side dropped to the thirteenth place with five games lost. They share the position with 4 other teams. Erokspor is looking forward to face Kapakli Spor (#12) in Tekirdag in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Very important is a road loss of third ranked Ankaragucu (5-3) against fourth ranked Sigortam.net (6-2) on Monday night. Visiting Ankaragucu was defeated by Sigortam.net in a tough game in Balikesir 66-72. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Ankaragucu. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Chris Lykes (169-1998, college: Arkansas) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 6 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) and Orhan Haciyeva who added 7 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Hakan Yapar (202-1984) responded with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Ankaragucu’s coach Hakan Koktas rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn’t help. Sigortam.net moved-up to third place. Ankaragucu at the other side dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. The winners were led by Marcus Shaver Jr who scored that evening 35 points (!!!) and 5 assists. Even 22 points, 5 assists and 5 steals by Kaan Onat did not help to save the game for Anka Spor. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kapakli Spor moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 7 other teams. There were no big surprises in other games of round 8: Trabzonspor was beaten by TED Ankara on the road 73-69. Konya BBSK lost to Bordo on its own court 74-81. Cayirova managed to outperform Fenerbahce 2 in Kocaeli 80-69. Final Spor managed to beat Haremspor at home 85-80. Cedi Osman defeated Gaziantep on the opponent’s court 79-74. Ormanspor was beaten by Balikesir BBS in a home game 72-86.
TED Ankara – Trabzonspor 73-69
Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both twelfth ranked TED Ankara and 13th ranked Trabzonspor had identical 3-4 record. This time TED Ankara used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Trabzon 73-69 on Sunday night. TED Ankara made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game.
