Halftime hot takes: Jordan Poole will haunt us forever

The Wizards are putting up a fight. Through the first 24 minutes, the Celtics have a bigger fight on their hands than they had on Tuesday night against the Knicks, leading 64-54 at halftime.

So let’s get into some takes.

Jordan Poole will haunt me for the rest of my life.

“I am not giving Jordan Poole no more slander… I am done,” NBC Sports Boston’s Brian Scalabrine said.

We all remember the 2022 Finals when Poole hit what felt like every shot he took.

Well, he did it in the first quarter tonight scoring 17 first quarter points. He had more points than the Celtics at one point.

Sportscasters saying that Poole has 17 points against the champs is so sick though. I love that so much.

But I mean seriously, when will he stop with this madness!

This is not like an every game occurrence but he will always save a big game for the C’s. He had 31 points in a game last season against Boston.

Also, why did Scal call out Drew Carter for not watching the Wizards when he mentioned that Poole played well at the end of last season? That was not necessary.

NBC Sports Boston does not need to match the score bug to the jerseys.

Just leave it green and white, why do they feel the need to change it based on the uniforms?

It just is unnecessary, I don’t like it. ESPN pulls it off way better.

I am not sure what it is but I like it when ESPN does it, but don’t need NBC Sports Boston doing it as well.

With NBC entering the full NBA fold next year, will this be their score bug? These are the important questions we need to be asking.

The Wizards didn’t double as much so the Celtics took less threes

If you don’t double, the Celtics don’t get as many wide open threes, which is when they beat you by 30.

The Knicks doubled all night on Tuesday so the Celtics kept swinging it to the wide open guy, which led to 29 made open threes. Washington did not double as much in the first half so the Celtics took less threes.

Yet, it is a pick your poison because when you don’t double Jayson Tatum, he cooks you.

Tatum had 20 points and 7 rebounds in the first half because of the single coverage he saw.

Joe loves a center

When it was announced that Sam Hauser would not be playing on Thursday night many thought it would be Jordan Walsh taking his spot in the rotation

But instead, it was Neemias Queta who took the spot as Mazzulla decided to play big with Jonas Valanciunas on the court, and he played well with 4 points and a rebound in three minutes of action.
