Just 15 or so minutes after raising Banner 18 to the rafters, the Boston Celtics absolutely blazed into the record books with a franchise high, 17 three-pointers in a single half. The Celtics have powered to a 74-point first half and seemingly put the rest of the league on notice, as they begin the massive quest to repeat as NBA Champs.
Fueled behind Jayson Tatum who was 6 for 9 in the half, the starting five of Boston registered an unbelievable 15 first-half makes. Jaylen Brown, Jrue Holiday and Al Horford all made 2 apiece, whilst Derrick White picked up where he left off in the NBA Finals going 3 for 5. Boston’s stellar floor spacing and offensive rebounding, spurred the C’s to finish the half 17-32 from three and one three-pointer away from the League record.
The NBA Record for three-pointers in a half is 18, set by the Milwaukee Bucks. Payton Pritchard and Sam Hauser also added one three-pointer each as the Garden is rocking on the night the Celtics have had their ring ceremony and pre-game Banner 18 festivities.
