Yukatel Merkezefendi Belediyesi Basket Denizli (BSL) added to their roster 28-year old Latvian international guard Rihards Lomazs (189cm-78kg-1996). It is actually his comeback to Merkezefendi as he has played here before. Lomazs played last season at Virtus Segafredo Bologna in Italian Serie A. He managed to play in three leagues in two countries last year. In 11 Serie A games he recorded 3.1ppg. Lomazs helped them to win the regular season and make it to the final. He also played 8 games in Euroleague where he averaged 3.3ppg.
Part of previous (2022-23) season he spent at EWE Baskets in German BBL. In 9 games he had 9.1ppg, 1.6rpg and 3.3apg in that year. Lomazs contributed to his team making it to the cup final. The other team he played shortly was Zaragoza in Spanish Liga Endesa. In 5 games he got 6.2ppg and 1.2apg in that year.
He has been also a member of Latvian international program for some years. Lomazs has regularly played for Latvian senior team since 2018 and previously for U20 National Team in 2016.
He represented Latvia at the FIBA Olympic Games Qualifying Tournament in Riga (Latvia) this year. His stats at that event were 4 games: 12.0ppg, 3.3rpg, 3.0apg, FGP: 50.0%, 3PT: 14.3%.
Lomazs has played also professionally in France (ASVEL Lyon Villeurbanne Basket), Germany (BG Goettingen) and Latvia (Talsi, Jelgava, Ventspils, Jurmala and Spars/Ventspils).
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others he was voted to Eurobasket.com All-German Bundesliga Honorable Mention back in 2021.
