There were just four rounds played in Regular Season of ABA League and we can clearly see which teams will fight for top positions and which will try to avoid bottom places. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most interesting game of round 4 was a derby match between two teams from Serbia. The game took place in Subotica where tenth ranked Spartak won against visiting FMP BG (2-2) 93-86. Spartak dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to FMP BG‘s 26. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Rasir Bolton (190-1999, college: Gonzaga, agency: Octagon Europe) who helped to win the game recording 17 points. Center Dusan Miletic (213-1998) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Slovenian point guard Matic Rebec (183-1995, agency: SLN) replied with 17 points for FMP BG. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Spartak moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated FMP BG. Spartak is looking forward to face higher ranked Dubai (#4) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. FMP BG will play against Cibona and is hoping to win this game.
An interesting game for Serbian Partizan (4-0) which played road game in Podgorica against 4th ranked Montenegrin Derby (2-2). Top-ranked Partizan had an easy win 80-60. Worth to mention a great performance of South Sudanese point guard Carlik Jones (185-1997, college: Louisville) who helped to win the game recording 19 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and Gabriel Lundberg who added 13 points during the contest. At the losing side American point guard Erick Neal (178-1995, college: UT Arlington) responded with 10 points and 5 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Partizan have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Buducnost and Mega BG. Derby at the other side dropped to the fifth place with two games lost. They share the position with 5 other teams. Partizan will play against Zadar (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Derby will play against Krka (#14) in Novo Mesto and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Slovenian Krkas fans can celebrate the first win of their team after three consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Zagreb, where they defeated Croatian Cibona (1-3) 81-74 on Wednesday. The winners were led by Miha Cerkvenik who scored that evening 22 points and 8 rebounds. Even 16 points and 7 assists by Anthony Barber did not help to save the game for Cibona. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Krka left bottom position moving up to eleventh place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Cibona. Krka will meet at home higher ranked Derby (#6) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Cibona will play against FMP BG (#7) in Beograd and hope to win that game.

Other games in round 4 were not that significant. Buducnost smashed Zadar on the road 91-55. Crvena zvezda destroyed Igokea on its own court 91-68. Split unfortunately lost to Cedevita Ol. in Ljubljana 74-76. Mega BG rolled over Mornar at home 84-59. Dubai defeated Borac on the opponent’s court 87-74.



Zadar – Buducnost 55-91

No shocking result in a game when top-ranked Montenegrin Buducnost (4-0) crushed on the road 12th ranked Croatian Zadar (1-3) 91-55 on Saturday. Buducnost dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Zadar‘s 28. They outrebounded Zadar 33-22 including a 28-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by Nigerian-American Rasheed Sulaimon (194-1994, college: Maryland) who scored that evening 17 points and Bosnian center Kenan Kamenjas (207-2000) supported him with 9 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 15 points by Montenegrin point guard Vladimir Mihailovic (193-1990) did not help to save the game for Zadar. Lovro Mazalin (204-1997) added 8 points for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Buducnost have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending Montenegrin champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Partizan and Mega BG. Zadar lost third consecutive game. Defending Croatian champion dropped to the eleventh place with three games lost. They share the position with 4 other teams. Buducnost will meet at home Crvena zvezda (#5) in the next round. Crvena zvezda outrebounded Igokea 42-29 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Crvena zvezda looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The winners were led by American Mike Daum (206-1995, college: S.Dakota St.) who scored that evening 16 points and Brazilian point guard Yago Dos Santos (175-1999) supported him with 11 points. Even 11 points and 7 assists by American point guard Bryce Jones (183-1994, college: Murray St.) did not help to save the game for Igokea. Forward Nikola Maric (207-1998, college: UALR) added 12 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. Four Igokea players scored in double figures. Mega BG had a 31-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The winners were led by forward Bogoljub Markovic (210-2005) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Mihailo Petrovic (190-2003) supported him with 20 points and 4 assists. Four Mega BG players scored in double figures. Even 13 points and 7 rebounds by Croatian swingman Lovre Runjic (197-2000, agency: AltusBasket) did not help to save the game for Mornar.
