The Regular Season in Superleague 1 just started. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Chelbasket in Chelyabinsk on Monday night. Hosts were defeated by Dinamo 73-66. The former international swingman Anton Ponkrashov (200-1986) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and Serbian swingman Mihajlo Bogdanovic (198-1996) chipped in 11 points and 4 assists. At the losing side point guard Andrey Toptunov (183-2002) responded with 11 points and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Dinamo is looking forward to face Metallurg MGN in Magnitogorsk in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Chelbasket will play at home against Irkut and is hoping to win this game.
Very significant was Barnaul’s just 3-point road victory against Dinamo. Dinamo was very close to get their first win. But it seems they have to wait a little bit longer. Power forward Kirill Gornaev (202-1996) nailed a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winning side and Boris Mitkin accounted for 18 points and 6 rebounds. Bosnian guard Eman Sertovic (196-1999, college: UT Martin) came up with 16 points and 4 assists for Dinamo in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Barnaul will play against Zenit-2 in Saint Petersburg in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Dinamo will play at home against Novosybirsk to get more than just one victory in their record.
BARS-RGEU was upset in Khimki by Khimki 71-61. Vladislav Sharapov fired 23 points and 9 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winners. Maxim Tkachenko produced 12 points and 6 assists for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Khimki will meet at home Lok.Kuban in the next round which should be an easy win for them. BARS-RGEU will play against Univ.Surgut and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 1: Irkut destroyed Metallurg MGN on the opponent’s court 90-71. Univ.Surgut managed to outperform Lok.Kuban in a home game 81-75. Winless Novosybirsk lost to undefeated Zenit-2 on the road 69-85. Winless Tambov lost to undefeated TSU on its own court 60-78. Winless Kupol-Rodniki lost to undefeated CSKA-2 in Moscow 63-77.

Irkut outrebounded Metallurg MGN 36-23 including a 27-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Center Egor Vanin (215-2004, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) chipped in 12 points and 9 rebounds.
