American Jordan Barnes (178-PG-1997) had an amazing evening in the last round for Cedi Osman Basketbol Spor Kulubu Istanbul and that’s him to receive a Hoops Agents TBL Player of the Week award for round 1.
The 27-year old playmaker got a double-double of 32 points and 12 assists, while his team beat Bordo (#12, 0-1), the league’s bottom-ranked team 78-71. Cedi Osman is placed at 4th position in Turkish TBL. But it’s just the very beginning of the season and Cedi Osman won just one (their first) game. It’s too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team’s last game Barnes had a remarkable 71.4% from 2-point range and got six three-pointers out of 12 attempts. He turned to be Cedi Osman‘s top player in his first season with the team. Indiana State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Barnes is league’s best scorer averaging so far 32.0ppg and is league’s best passer with 12.0apg. Barnes is in league’s top in and averages solid 71.4% FGP and 50.0% from behind 3-point line.
The second most remarkable performance in last round’s games was young American forward William McNair Jr. (211-F-2000) of OGM Ormanspor Genclik Ankara. McNair Jr. impressed basketball fans with 18 points and 9 rebounds. Of course Ormanspor cruised to a 72-64 relatively comfortable win over TED Ankara (0-1). His team has extremely good start of the season. They won their first game. However the season is at the beginning, so everything can happen. They still may lose their high position in the standings. McNair Jr. is a newcomer at Ormanspor and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team’s leaders.
The third best performed player last round was American CJ Elleby (198-F-2000) of MKE Ankaragucu Basketbol (#11). Elleby showcased his all-around game by recording 9 points, 13 rebounds (!!!) and 4 assists in the last round. Despite Elleby’s great performance the Ankaragucu lost 64-65 to Cagdas BS (#2, 1-0). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The season just started for Elleby as he played only first game. But it already looks like he can be team’s leader.

7. Can Ugur Ogut (178-PG-1992) of Trabzonspor – 19 points, 3 rebounds and 11 assists
8. Mehmet Oguzhan Kizil (1996) of Cayirova – 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists
9. Erkan Veyseloglu (200-SF-1983) of Kapakli Spor – 14 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists
10. Dischon Thomas (206-F-2000) of Kapakli Spor – 15 points and 11 rebounds
The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it’s accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) – 2*BSAG – 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM – 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) – 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) – (FTA-FTM)
