Kyrie Irving Hints at Finals Revenge in Social Media Move

Kyrie Irving has seemingly reacted to Jayson Tatum’s claim that it will be a Boston v Dallas rematch in the 2024-25 NBA Finals series.

Celtics star Jayson Tatum went on record on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show recently and predicted another Finals showdown between the Mavs and Celtics.

Not long after, Irving changed his profile picture on Instagram to a photo of him standing on the Celtic’s logo at TD Garden.

Of course, Kyrie has a well-documented history with the Celtics logo. Since 2021 when Irving stomped on the logo, he has gone 1-13 against the team.

His production in the Finals against his former team dropped significantly and it’s been eating him alive, he revealed on a recent Twitch stream.

“Last year was definitely a disappointing year from the standpoint of not winning the Finals. … We got there for a reason,” Irving said. “Blood is definitely in the water. I’m always going to take my accountability. … Definitely got to set that straight. Did not play my best at all down the stretch in the season, and it’s been eating me alive in a healthy way.”

It certainly sounds like Kyrie is gearing up for a redemption season, which he reiterated in a more recent Twitch stream over the weekend.

“I don’t feel like any person in this world can stop me from doing the things that I love to do or achieving the things that I put my heart and my mind to,” Irving said. “I’ve been doubted so many times in my life and the reason why I continue is because I have a great support system around me and also I have a ‘f**k you’ mentality.”

He continued, “I want to be the best of the best, I want to play against the best of the best. That’s why I’m grateful that I was able to go number one in the NBA and wear a target on my back. I don’t want to duck any smoke, I don’t want to duck any hate, I don’t want to duck any love that’s out there for me.”
