Galatasaray Ekmas Istanbul (BSL) landed 26-year old Latvian 208cm forward Roberts Blumbergs (college: GCU) for new season. Blumbergs played most recently at Aris in Greek GBL league. In 27 games he averaged 9.0ppg and 3.1rpg last season. He helped them to make it to the semifinals. Blumbergs also played 13 games in Eurocup where he had 6.4ppg and 3.5rpg.
He played in the final of WAC Tournament in 2018 and 2019.
The previous (2022-23) season he played at BC CSU Sibiu in Romanian Liga Nationala. In 36 games he recorded very impressive stats: 15.6ppg, 5.8rpg and 1.2apg in that year. It was a very successful season in his career as he was voted to Eurobasket.com All-Romanian League Honorable Mention, All-Imports Team and League Player of the Week (3 times).
He represented Latvia at the European Championships (FIBA EuroBasket) U20 Division B in Sofia (Bulgaria) six years ago. His team won Bronze and his stats at that event were 3 games: 11.0ppg, Reb-2(11.7rpg), 2.0apg, 1.3spg, 1.3bpg, FGP: 42.9%, 3PT: 30.8%, FT: 60.0%.
He has played also professionally in Germany, Spain (Zunder Palencia) and Latvia (Valmiera Glass and Liepaja).
Blumbergs graduated from Grand Canyon State University in 2019 and it will be his sixth season in pro basketball. He played in the final of WAC Tournament in 2018 and 2019.
