Andrew Nembhard’s step-back 3 from 31ft was the difference … off a Nesmith offensive rebound.

Most amazing confidence tonight is not Haliburton with 23 points in the first half, but archer on the court at halftime firing arrows while doing splits and hanging on one hand with no backdrop to catch an errant shot from killing someone in the front row. – 8:18 PM

Indiana clinging to a 63-58 lead at the break behind 23 points from Haliburton. The #Knicks shooting .538 overall and .615 from deep, so it’s fair to wonder if that #Pacers lead is sustainable. – 8:15 PM
Scott Agness @ScottAgness
Tyrese Haliburton scored 23pts (five 3s) to help the Pacers to a halftime lead … but it’s just five: 63-58 v undermanned Knicks.

There are a lot of little tells about how Haliburton is feeling early in games. Some of these moves he’s making in the paint require a ton of balance, and he’s been pretty much prefect on all of them. 10 points already. – 7:35 PM

Just the fast, energetic start the Pacers needed, led by Haliburton (8pts).
Remember, they have not been a fast-starting team.

More on this storyline

In speaking with the media for seven minutes, Haliburton said he’d “be better” on 13 different occasions. Clearly the theme of the preparation for Game 2. But Haliburton is dealing with back spasms and remains listed as questionable on the injury report for Game 2, as he was entering the series. He is planning to play, but the injury may be affecting him more than he is letting on. His aggression has noticeably been reduced since his back, which he’s had occasional issues with since he was in high school, flared up recently. “At this time of year everybody’s got something going and he’s working at it, doing everything he can to keep himself feeling as good as possible,” Pacers coach Rick Carlisle said. “I’m confident he’ll play, but it’s a concern.” -via ESPN / May 7, 2024
“I erred on the side of playmaking…and that wasn’t the right decision for me,” Haliburton said Tuesday following the team’s practice. “I still got to be who I am, but yeah, I’ll just be better tomorrow.” -via ESPN / May 7, 2024
