Both Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen chose not to attend the Bulls’ inaugural Ring of Honor gala, where 13 players, coaches, and executives were being inducted.
Regarding their absence, Bulls chairman Jerry Reinsdorf commented to the Chicago Sun Times, “I actually don’t know how much effort went into it.”
He acknowledged the absence of the iconic duo from the team’s six-championship dynasty in the 90s, adding, “Obviously, it would be better if everybody were here, but we knew going in that not everybody could be here. I believe Michael recorded something.”
The decision by Jordan and Pippen to skip the event was communicated to the Bulls beforehand. Additionally, Dennis Rodman, another star, was expected to be present but did not attend.
