Besiktas Emlakjet Istanbul (BSL) strengthened their roster with addition of 24-year old Montenegrin international 210cm power forward Marko Simonovic. Simonovic started the season at Crvena Zvezda in Serbian KLS league. In 11 games he recorded just 2.8ppg and 1.5rpg. He also played 11 games in ABA League where he averaged 6.1ppg and 3.9rpg.
In 2020 he was drafted by Chicago Bulls (NBA) in second round (44th overall).
Simonovic has been also a member of Montenegrin international program for some years. He has regularly played for Montenegrin senior team since 2019 and previously for U20 National Team back in 2019.
Simonovic represented Montenegro at the European Championships (FIBA EuroBasket) U16 in Kaunas (Lithuania) nine years ago. His stats at that event were 8 games: 9.3ppg, 8.1rpg, FGP: 53.1%, 3PT: 33.3%, FT: 66.7%.
He is a very experienced player. Simonovic has played also professionally in Italy (Mens Sana, Roseto and Moncalieri), Slovenia (Petrol Olimpija Ljubljana and Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana), Montenegro (Gorstak), Serbia (BC Mega MIS Beograd and Junior) and NBA G League (Windy City Bulls).
Among many awards he played in the final of Serbian League in 2021. He was also voted to Eurobasket.com All-Serbian League Play-Off Forward of the Year back in 2021.
