In a dominant display, the Boston Celtics (26-6) asserted their prowess with a resounding 134-101 victory over the struggling San Antonio Spurs (5-27) on Sunday night.
During the third quarter, Spurs’ rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama showcased his athleticism with a powerful one-handed slam in a fast break, eluding the chasing Derrick White.
When asked about attempting to block Wembanyama, White responded with a smile, stating, “I’m not an idiot. I was hoping he’d take another dribble, but he just picked it up, and I never saw it again. I assumed he’s going to take one more dribble. But yeah, that was crazy.”
White acknowledged Wembanyama’s unique talent, emphasizing his length and the special qualities he brings to the court.
“His length and the things he can do on the court are pretty special. He’s just starting to come into his own, figuring out how to play in this league. Just a guy with his size to do what he can do is obviously pretty special. He’s just going to keep getting better,” White praised.
Wembanyama’s impressive performance in the game included 21 points and 7 rebounds, contributing to his season averages of 18.8 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 3 assists in 29.7 minutes per game.
