The Phoenix Suns made a bold move in the offseason by parting ways with former No. 1 draft pick Deandre Ayton and acquiring Jusuf Nurkic from the Portland Trail Blazers.
While Nurkic is not necessarily a better player than Ayton, according to former NBA champion Brian Scalabrine, he might be a better fit for the Suns.
Scalabrine voiced his opinion on SiriusXM NBA Radio, stating, “Nurkic is better than Ayton for this team. For this team, he’s really good at the dribble handoffs and he sets solid screens, and he doesn’t move. He’s good for that team. That was a great move.”
In the early stages of the regular season, Nurkic has been making his presence felt, averaging 9.3 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists in 26.3 minutes per game for the Suns.
