After securing their fifth consecutive victory in a friendly game, with a dominant 98-65 win over Puerto Rico in Ravenna, 35-year-old forward Gigi Datome, who is set to retire from basketball, holds optimism for the team’s upcoming endeavors.
“I try to do the best for myself and for this group, which is special,” Datome said. “I do not know if this year, but for the future I am confident: after so many years I feel that it is a special group and I hope that these guys will carve out a great emotion that I have never lived. I hope it happens this summer, but they still deserve it.”
