Warriors forward Draymond Green recorded a double-double in their Game 2 win over the Lakers with 11 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists in the dominant victory.
LeBron James was quick to give Green credit when asked about the Warriors’ performance, as well as JaMychal Green, who has played limited minutes for the Dubs this year but was outstanding in Game 2.
“Draymond was great in the pocket pass with the rolls and things of that nature,” LeBron said.
“JaMychal gave them big-time minutes. Those 12 minutes felt like 24 minutes [or] 30 minutes. He was big-time for their team in a starting role tonight, too. So, you give credit where credit is due, and we move on to the next game. But our defense is where we hang our hats, and that doesn’t stop, no matter who we’re playing against.”
JaMychal Green started the game in place of Kevon Looney, which meant Draymond was guarding Davis instead of Looney.
Despite notching 30 points and 23 rebounds in Game 1, Davis only had 11 points and seven rebounds in Game 2 but when asked by reporters about it, he didn’t believe that was due to the switch or Draymond’s overpowering defense.
“I don’t think so,” Davis said. “I mean, I took all the same shots I took in Game 1. Just missed them. Elbow jumpers, pocket passes to the floater—the same exact looks. Didn’t shoot any shots that I didn’t shoot in Game 1. I just missed them. That’s all. Like Bron said, they made adjustments. They shot the ball extremely well from three. So, we’ll be better. I’ll be better at making those shots. Get back home on the home floor and try to take care of business.”
Game 3 of the Warriors v Lakers series will take place on Saturday, 6th May at 5:30PM PT in LA.
