Brandon Miller is accused of bringing a teammate a handgun used in a fatal shooting last month, according to police in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
The information was revealed during a preliminary hearing for Darius Miles and Michael Lynn Davis, who face capital murder charges in the death of 23-year-old Jamea Jonae Harris.
Miles admitted to providing the weapon used in the incident, with Davis accused of firing the gun. Miles allegedly told Davis where he left his gun in Miller’s car.
Miller has not been charged with a crime.
“Brandon hasn’t been in any type of trouble, nor is he in any type of trouble in this case. Wrong spot at the wrong time,” said Alabama coach Nate Oats on Tuesday, though he later backtracked his comments.
“Our understanding is that they have all been fully truthful and cooperative. In no way did I intend to downplay the seriousness of this situation or the tragedy of that night,” added Oats.
Miller is a projected top-5 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.
