Klay Thompson has missed the last two NBA seasons, but his return may be around the corner. Thompson could play in games just before the Christmas holiday.
“I’m told if he continues on his current course right now in rehab, that a target date for his return will be set probably within the next couple weeks,” ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski said on NBA Countdown. “And it could be…there’s optimism it could be as soon as December 20, December 23.”
ESPN’s Brian Windhorst previously reported that Thompson is looking great in workouts. Additionally, there is optimism Thompson could return near his previously level of ability.
Wojnarowski reported “The Warriors will go on a road trip in mid-December, and at that point, if Klay continues on this track, he’d go down and play with the Warriors’ G League team. And the idea is, and the hope is, they’ll have him back perhaps prior to Christmas.”
Thompson hasn’t played in an NBA game in suffering a torn ACL during the 2019 NBA Finals. Thompson then tore his Achilles in workouts prior to the 2020 NBA Draft.
