The Toronto Raptors are reportedly eyeing the service of several notable big men for a potential trade.
Sources told Yahoo! Sports’ Jake Fischer that Myles Turner and Deandre Ayton are within “Toronto’s radar” ahead of the upcoming February trade deadline this season.
Amid rumblings of gaining sticky attention due to their much awaited direction soon, the Raptors’ intent to hunt the two big men only show their desire to compete and shatter the hopes of rival teams to commit on a fire sale and rebuild.
Turner has been the most frequent trade ingredient of the league since the previous years, and this season can ultimately determine his future given his expiring contract with the Pacers. Having the best season so far in his career by averaging 17.4 points, 7.9 boards and 2.3 blocks in over 55 percent efficiency, the big man has his own case to earn his lucrative paycheck as an impending unrestricted free-agent.
Meanwhile, Ayton had a strained relationship with the Suns after an embattled relationship with Monty Williams and having a standoff for a large contract, in which both sides have agreed on a four-year, $133 million deal. As such, the drama took place from the past doesn’t erase the speculations that the former no. 1 pick remains a trade chip by the Suns most especially when urgency to be competitive has risen.
The Raptors have an obvious gigantic hole at their center and lacks a big body enforcer down low. Their targets can’t even be more ideal on their plans to enhance their contention.
