Coach John Lucas was fired up on his young Houston Rockets squad who toppled Giannis Antetokounmpo and the title heavyweight Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday evening, 97-92.
Lucas, who was tapped to become an acting head coach with Stephen Silas mourning for his deceased father and former NBA mentor Paul, was delighted by the fight and the response of his Rockets on his call prior to the match.
“That’s a good win for us,” Lucas said, per Ben DuBose of USA TODAY. “We had a really good day of practice, the other day. We talked about accountability, being professional, and starting to grow up. We’ve got to stop hiding behind being young. We’re better than young.”
Jalen Green led the way with his 30 points and 7 boards, with backcourt mate Kevin Porter Jr. contributing his 18 markers and 7 dimes.
