The Regular Season in U18 League just started. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Tornado KM in Kaunas on Sunday night. Visitors were edged by Zalgiris I 77-74. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Tornado KM won fourth quarter 13-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Tornado KM 59-35 including a 25-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Center Mantas Kocanas (207-2005) fired a double-double by scoring 12 points and 19 rebounds for the winners. Tomas Stankevicius (-2005) chipped in 19 points. Armandas Bancevicius (-2006) produced 20 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Zalgiris I is looking forward to face Panevezio on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Tornado KM will play against VKKM and is hoping to win this game.
Another exciting game was between Panevezio and Plunges where Panevezio crushed Plunges on the road with 21-point difference 116-95. Worth to mention a great performance of Kristupas Dula (-2005) who helped to win the game recording 26 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Rokas Jurciukonis contributed with 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Panevezio’s coach Aurimas Puodziunas felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Vincas Pakalniskis (197-2005) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds for Plunges. Panevezio will play against Zalgiris I in Kaunas in the next round. Plunges will play on the road against SKM I in Vilniaus and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An exciting game was played in Vilniaus. VKKM faced Zalgiris II. Host VKKM defeated guests from Kaunas 102-88. Justas Ziubrys stepped up with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. At the losing side Augustas Navickas responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 17 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. VKKM will meet Tornado KM in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Zalgiris II will play against Saule and hope to win that game.

In the last game of round 1 Perkunas lost to Saule in Siauliai 71-85.
The best stats of 1st round was 28 points and 6 rebounds by Martynas Mejaras of Perkunas.

Plunges – Panevezio 95-116

Another exciting game was between Panevezio and Plunges where Panevezio crushed Plunges on the road with 21-point difference 116-95. The game without a history. Panevezio led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Panevezio forced 21 Plunges turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 35 assists comparing to just 21 passes made by Plunges’ players. Worth to mention a great performance of Kristupas Dula (-2005) who helped to win the game recording 26 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Rokas Jurciukonis (-2006) contributed with 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Panevezio’s coach Aurimas Puodziunas felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Plunges will play on the road against SKM I in Vilniaus and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

An exciting game was played in Vilniaus. VKKM faced Zalgiris II. Host VKKM defeated guests from Kaunas 102-88. The game was mostly controlled by VKKM. Zalgiris II managed to win second period 27-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. VKKM dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Zalgiris II’s 42. VKKM had a 40-28 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Point guard Justas Ziubrys (183-2005) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Kristupas Lesciauskas (-2005) chipped in 13 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. At the losing side forward Augustas Navickas (190-2005) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 17 rebounds and Liutauras Serkevicius (-2005) scored 22 points. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. VKKM will meet Tornado KM in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Zalgiris II will play against Saule and hope to win that game.

Saule – Perkunas 85-71

Saule used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Kaunas 85-71 on Tuesday night. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 85-71. Saule dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Perkunas’ 42. They outrebounded Perkunas 46-28 including 32 on the defensive glass. Joris Kacinskas (-2005) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and point guard Deividas Zukauskas (162-2005) chipped in 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Saule players scored in double figures. At the losing side Martynas Mejaras (-2005) responded with 28 points and 6 rebounds and Simas Sliogeris (-2005) scored 15 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Saule will meet Zalgiris II in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Perkunas will play against Birzu and hope to win that game.
