So far no Kevin Durant trade talks got real traction, despite serious interest in the two-time NBA champion from several teams in the league.
However, there is one unofficial front-runner to get KD, according to some league executives. It’s the Celtics with a deal centered around the team’s second-top player Jaylen Brown.
It is also thought that Boston set the floor for by willing to trade their second-best player. Now the Nets will expect nothing less from other teams that are interested in making a trade for Durant.
Via Sam Amick of The Athletic:
Among the executives with whom I spoke, a Boston deal with Jaylen Brown as the centerpiece appears to be the unofficial front-runner here. In general terms, sources say the Nets are using the fact that the Celtics (and perhaps other teams) have made their second-best player available as a baseline of sorts in negotiations. Translation: If you’re still trying to discuss a Durant deal without putting your second-best talent on the table, then just stop wasting everyone’s time and bow out of this race.
