Head coaches Tom Thibodeau and Tyronn Lue exchanged comments after the Knicks defeated the Clippers 116-93 to seal the regular season series 2-0.
The two had crossed paths in the past when Lue was making his first steps in coaching. Back in 2011 the current Clippers head coach got his first coaching job in Boston where Thibodeau was working as an associate head coach.
During a press conference after the win against the Clippers, Thibs remembered that Lue was a little bit of a gambler as a player and has carried these tendencies into his coaching career and it serves him well.
“Ty’s always stayed true to himself. He’s not afraid to try things. As a player he was a little bit of a gambler, we used to have to sit on him a little bit… He’s a risk-taker and it’s served him well. That’s his personality,” Thibodeau said, per Tomer Azarly.
Lue responded by saying that he is not focused on what people outside are talking and is trying anything that could work.
“I try anything man because I don’t care. I don’t care what people think, I don’t care what y’all write and what y’all say. I just do what I believe that’s gonna work and what’s right,” Lue said, per Tomer Azarly.
