Russell Westbrook’s first season with the Los Angeles Lakers hasn’t gone as expected. Despite the struggled, Lakers coach Frank Vogel isn’t ready to bench his star point guard, to the dismay of some within the organization.
Vogel has been pressured by some within the Lakers organization to remove Westbrook from the starting lineup. To this point, including in Saturday’s win over the Golden State Warriors, Vogel has resisted that push.
Westbrook recently said his role with the Lakers has been “ever evolving”. Vogel and his staff are still searching, with a month to go in the season, for the best fit to use Westbrook alongside LeBron James. That’s caused tension between Westbrook and the coaching staff, as well as within the organization as a whole.
